How We Build
the Intelligence
The data behind the data.
EVEM's methodology builds trust with skeptical B2B clients through transparent, validated data collection and rigorous validation processes.
Where the Data Comes From
Contributed Event Datasets
Anonymized datasets from 47+ event partners, aggregated to identify trends without exposing individual event details or proprietary metrics.
Primary Research
Direct surveys and interviews with event professionals, venue operators, and industry experts to capture nuanced, first-hand insights.
Public Industry Data
Cross-referenced and validated data from government sources, trade publications, and independent research institutions.
Client Engagements
Aggregated insights from EVEM client work, never attributed to individual organizations, ensuring anonymity and building a shared knowledge base.
What Qualifies as a Data Point
Every data point in EVEM's dataset must meet strict inclusion criteria to ensure accuracy and relevance.
Minimum Event Size Thresholds
Events must meet minimum attendance, revenue, or duration thresholds to be included in the dataset, filtering out outliers and micro-events.
Geographic Coverage Requirements
Data points must come from established event markets with sufficient market penetration to ensure representative coverage.
Data Completeness Requirements
Records must include essential metrics: attendance, budget, duration, and key performance indicators to be considered complete.
Recency Weighting
Data from the last 24 months receives 2× weighting to ensure benchmarks reflect current market conditions and recent trends.
How We Validate
A rigorous 3-step validation process ensures data integrity and reliability.
Collection & Normalization
- Raw data ingestion from multiple sources
- Standardized formatting across all datasets
- Unit conversion and currency normalization
- Outlier detection and flagging
Cross-Source Verification
- Data triangulation across 2+ independent sources
- Anomaly investigation and reconciliation
- Trend analysis for logical consistency
- Historical comparison and validation
Quarterly Recalibration
- Seasonal adjustment and trend filtering
- Peer validation with industry experts
- Performance metrics review and updates
- Documentation of methodology changes
What We Never Do
Trust is built on transparent boundaries. Here's what you'll never see from EVEM.
Never attribute data to individual events without explicit permission.
Never sell contributor data to third parties or secondary buyers.
Never present projections as certainties or historical fact.
Never use benchmarks to reverse-engineer or identify specific organizations.

Data Maturity Tiers & EIS
The Event Intelligence Score (EIS) measures data maturity on a 0–100 scale, reflecting confidence and coverage depth.
Exploratory
Early-stage data collection with limited cross-source validation. Use for preliminary insights only.
Limited confidence | Single-source | Requires validation
Developing
Emerging datasets with partial validation. Suitable for directional guidance but not strategic decisions.
Moderate confidence | 2+ sources | Quarterly review
Established
Validated data with solid historical depth and cross-source verification. Reliable for most planning.
High confidence | 3+ sources | Peer validated
Authoritative
Comprehensive, multi-year validated data with extensive market coverage. Benchmark quality for strategic decisions.
Very high confidence | 5+ sources | Quarterly calibrated
